The Soul Food Prayer
All week I have been thinking about how I can commemorate the launch of Soul Food. It was such a special time for me for so many reasons. I was stepping out on BIG faith. Prior to this release, I had never created a website, written or published a book or sold anything on my own. All I had was a vision, faith, and support. I’ve learned that is enough to fuel any dream. You all as supporters of this work are more special to me than you can even imagine. I created this journal for you. I thought of you every step of the way, and when I got scared or discouraged, it was the thought of you that helped me. I wanted to share something else meaningful with you, so I decided to look through my old journal to see what I could find. I found a prayer and affirmations from 12:42 am on October 5, 2020. I don’t share my entires word for word often, but today is special and so are you. Here are a few pages from my journal:
Hey, God. May I be who you need me to be. It is launch week and I feel anxious and unlike myself today. This is new for me. I am used to planning things that are for my organization but never have I launched a brand nor sold anything. I must admit that I am a little nervous. I am not completely sure where the nerves are coming from. I think I am excited but, I get nervous being excited about things because of the “what if’s.”
Well, I am denouncing all of those feelings. I am going to approach this week with confidence, grace, love and expectation. God, I just so desperately want to be who you need and want me to be. If I am ever falling short or aligning myself with things that are not like you please correct me, God.
As I launch this journal please bless it. Bless the launch of Soul Food. May it be more successful than I could ever imagine, reach more people than I can count, and may it heal people, inspire them and make them feel hopeful. May they feel more comfortable with themselves, their life and everything you have created for them, God.
As the creator, God, keep me. May I be who you called me to be for them at all times. I don’t take this offering lightly. I do not take the work you have called me to do lightly. I have always had a love for connecting people- for creating opportunities for people to feel loved, appreciated and honored. I cherish these moments of pure honesty and truth-telling. I love when people let me into parts of their life. I learned so much from and about them. I want people to feel safe enough to share and open enough to care. I want everyone who connects to me to feel overwhelmingly loved and supported, God. I know that feeling is possible.
May my journal bring people closer to you. May people feel more confident being themselves. All of themselves. No alterations needed. May I grow more confident with myself. May I be more inspired to share my story, God. Help me remember it. Even some of the things I have buried. When I am ready, reveal them to me God.
Lord, I love you and I am ready to step into this next season hand-in-hand with your son, Jesus Christ. Please God prepare me and prepare my family. May we remain grounded and forever connected to you. May we give you all the honor, glory, and praise always. This is for you, God, and everyone that came before me. May their love and strength be with me every step of the way. I love you so much. I thank you for my vision a for guiding me to accept the call. May I continue to follow your voice and change the world for the better. I trust that I will. I know that I will. It’s in Jesus’ name that I do pray,
Amen.
